Lawrence Fulton, Jr. was the son of the late Lawrence Fulton, Sr. and the late Melvin and Hermiel Watson. He was born on September 25, 1943, in Pritchard, Alabama.
Lawrence graduated from Mattie T. Blount High School in 1962 and attended the Art Institute of Chicago, Ill.
He gave 45 years of service to the U.S. Government through his work as an Able Seaman for the Military Sealift Command.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Velma Washington Fulton; daughters, Mia McKelvey (Edward) of Charleston, SC, Chereese Thymes of Oakland, California and son, Juaquin Ragland of Brooklyn, New York; 5 grandchildren, Tamaniesha Washington, Brandon Wharton, Chelsea McKelvey, Chandler McKelvey and Kira Ragland; 2 great-grandchildren, Talayshia Washington and Trequam Washington; 2 brothers, Melvin Watson, Jr. (Erica) of Pritchard, AL and Rodney Watson of Mobile, AL; 1 sister, Hermieon Carter (Kevin) of Fairfield, Al; mother-in-law, Beatrice Washington; a dear friend, Mack Hudson, Jr. of California, a host of aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
